Written by Bishal Lohane (also spelled Bishal Lohani), who also plays the film's central character Radhe, 7 BOYS stands as one of the earliest and most personal projects in Bishal Lohane's filmmaking journey — long before he went on to direct socially conscious work like CHHUWACHHUT.

Produced by Pratiphal Films, 7 BOYS began production in September 2014 and went on to screen across Kushma, Baglung, Banaun, Salija, Beni, and Pokhara throughout 2015, before returning to the screen at The First Dhaulagiri Film Festival 2021.

The Story: Friendship, Class, and First Love in Rural Nepal

7 BOYS follows seven inseparable school friends — Radhe, Anmol, Aryan, Nabin, Sabin, Gaurab, and Dipsan — as they navigate the ordinary and extraordinary moments of growing up: classroom humor, teenage rivalry, dreams for the future, and first love.

At the emotional center of the story is Radhe (played by Bishal Lohane), a boy from a financially struggling, single-mother household. When Radhe falls in love with Anjeela, a girl from a wealthy family, the film opens up its central themes — social class, family pressure, poverty, love across economic divides, and the sacrifices people make for those they love.

This portrait of class division would go on to resurface throughout Bishal Lohane's later work, making 7 BOYS an important early blueprint for the social themes he continued to explore in future projects.
